October 2, Day 34–The Word–"I will be with him in trouble" (Psalm 91:15)

Thoughts

     Sometimes when reading a psalm I like to see what Charles Spurgeon commented on the verses in his Treasury of David. His thoughts on Psalm 91:15 are especially comforting. The verse gives God wonderful promise: "I will be with him in trouble." Here is a bit of what Spurgeon wrote:
     "No mother can equally sympathize with her suffering child as the Lord does with his suffering people. If all the love that ever dwelt in all the mothers' hearts that ever existed, be united in one mother's heart and fixed on her only child, it would no more bear a comparison with the love of God to his people than the summer midnight glow-worm is to be compared to the summer mid-day sun.
     "Oh, that delightful sentence! 'I will be with him in trouble.' At other times God will leave them in the hands of angels: 'I will give them (angels) charge over them, to keep them in all their ways; they bear them up lest at any time they dash their feet against a stone.' But when they are in trouble, I will say to the angels, 'Stand aside, I will take care of them myself.' 'I will be with them in trouble.'"

Pray that women will know and rely on the love God has for them. Pray that the lies satan whispers that make them doubt His love will be silenced by Truth.
