It's like I know I should be doing good things like this but often I simply find it hard to actually do them. I don't know, maybe this is just me. But my life seems really really busy. It's like this sounds great for when men and my husband retire in 30 years. I just with I could do more.

Welcome to Come to the Fire website (formerly Women Alive)! I'm excited to share with you the theme verse for the third Come to the Fire conference: “You will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off” (Acts 2:38-39).
Jesus referred to it as “the promise of the Father.”* No promise could be grander than God's promise to flood our inner being, our entire personality, with His Spirit.
Join with a thousand other women from across the nation and experience God's awesome presence in a time of corporate worship.
Come and discover...
• the joy of having a clean heart
• how to live continually in the Spirit’s presence
• your deepest longings met as Jesus comes in His sweet presence.
Discover that the promise of the Father is for you! You will never be the same.

Comment on Karen Morerod's “Pray Without Ceasing...Really?” What helps you to pray without ceasing?

I've found it very difficult to get my husband and kids to see to allow me to make prayer time a priority. Sometimes posting a big note on the frig helps. Othertimes... it's just a big struggle.

New commentComment on Beth Coppedge's article "Making Room for Jesus at Your Kitchen Table"
If only I had more hours in the day. How can I get everything done? I mean I don't have an extra second. Maybe it's just me but I am stressed out from the morning to the night. Even vacation was stressful!

Angela - Thanks for your honest confession. You've expressed the state of our culture, but it doesn't have to be that way! There's a great book by Randy Frazee called "Making Room for Life" that challenges us to rethink how we structure our lives. I've just returned from an African village where the pace of life is so different. We've just become so blinded by our culture about the things we think we MUST have and do! It's a lesson we ALL need to be reminded of.

Angela, I can completely understand where you are. I have 3 young kids and still struggle saying the small word, NO. But now I have no choice but to slow down. The effects of constant stress have begun to break down my body - and I'm only 36! God has designed us - body and spirit - to rest. Resting our bodies in sleep and resting our souls in God are essential - more essential than dusting or vacuuming or running the dishwasher. I have found - truly - that I get more done in the day - and do it more thoroughly - when I begin with God. As dreaded as it seems to begin, get up earlier and spend quiet time with God - you will find that it's like tithing - you get back rewards that are not logical in this world! Beware of the lie Satan tells us about our daily expectations - get your 'to do' list from God, not the world!!! May God bless your time together and bring you peace and a lighter burden.

New commentComment on Jan Johnson's “Welcoming the Strangers in Your Life”
I guess it took nearly 45 years but God finally taught me to trust instead of just going it alone. Everyone is a stranger to someone else. I'm a slow learner but God stayed with me and eventually I got it.

I find it very hard to connect with people different that me. And since our interests are so different it's hard to find common grounds to discuss. Any suggestions?
